Donating Your Used Mobile Phone for Some Uncle Sam Love
January 16th, 2010
Stephen Roper asked:
Why not do something good while getting something in return for that used phone? Donating your phone can help a person in need. There are many circumstances in which your phones help when some don’t have the money to get one of their own, but who really need one. The incentives to recycling our old mobile phones for the use of others aren’t always there. While many of us think about the what ifs of life. The what ifs of life cause us to think about all the things that could go wrong with the pone we’re currently using. If something happens we want a back up. That’s understandable, but can you ever really find them when the time comes that you need your back up? Normally we can’t.
Many companies will buy your phone in return for money. Others are just asking for a bit of a donation. The need for the old mobile phones is so high that people who work with these individuals are a bit on the desperate side. Many already work by donations alone so they know what people are looking for. They know that people in today’s society want something in return. Few ever give just because they care. They also know that people are going through some hard times economically. That is to say those taxes keep increasing. So, as an incentive they are giving people who donate their phones a tax write off. It’s something for the thought that they took to donate their phone. The thought isn’t always easy because phones are so expensive and many would love to try getting something back from what they paid. But come on, you helped someone and you got something off your taxes. Now, that is something to brag about! It’s something to think about. Many of us do have like three or four phones sitting around so would it hurt to limit ourselves to one back up phone? Think about this from a two way street.
